I am here to tell you that I DID IT!! woo hoo!! Oh, when they tell you that the .1 really does count... well, it really really does count! That was probably the hardest part of the run. I also apparently decided to run while it was still sunny and hot to. I started at about 6:40 p.m. and made it half way through (6.5 ish) miles when the sun was just thinking about going down.
I felt really good until about half way, then i started to notice a couple rashes, some blisters, and my knee started to act up a bit. For some reason though, it went away when i hit around 8 miles. I guess i can call that a blessing!
Around 11 miles is when i really started to feel the wall and not want to go any further. I knew what i had left to do and i did not want to do it, but i kept goin' just thinking to myself that i have the rest of my life to recover from it! When i got done i couldn't straighten my legs out and my knees were killing me! I really wasn't huffing and puffing, but my whole body ached!
Brighton was awesome the whole time! She drove around and handed me water bottles, which i proceeded to drink and dump the rest all over me haha. She was really supportive and made it easier for me to make it through! She even made a sign to give to Jackson to hold up when i got back that said, "You did it!". I am really grateful for her and all she did for me.
Here are the before and after pictures. Oh, and if anyone has seen the episode of The Office when they do the 5k for the cure, talking about rabies, and one of the guys (shows how much i watch the office) starts to get a rash on his nipples, well, that's true to. It doesn't feel good.
Here's the proof!
Ready to go! Lookin' nice and rested...
This was about 4 miles into it, still feelin' good!
Jackson cheerin' me on!!
You can barely see me, but that was about 9 miles into it... i was dead!!
All done!! Just tryin' hard to keep myself standing to take the picture!
13.1 miles down!!!
That may look like sweat, but that is actually from all the water i dumped on myself, if you ask Brighton she can tell you that even running a half marathon you wouldn't even know i have sweat glands... i just don't sweat, well at least you can't see it... weird.
2 Hours 12 min 34 seconds
I'm thinking that's pretty good for only "training" for it for less than 3 weeks. Although my knees are thinking differently! I don't know if i will ever do that again, but at least i can say that i've done it! I also found a great respect for running and anyone that likes to do it!
Running helped me get back in shape, lose 29 lbs and i have started to feel good about myself again! I love it! Anyway, this was a great cap to the game and I hope this will be a big life change for me!
